Location, Continent, Captial, Map
  1. Start by making a new slide (Ctrl+M) and give it a title.
  2. Explore interactive maps of your country or state by using google maps.
  3. Type the name of your country and examine the different map such as the terrain view to see land formations.
  4. Satelite view allows you to look down on a specific location using satelite images. To move the image up, down, left, or right, simply click and hold on it and move it where you want.
  5. Some countries have monuments that can be seen by typing the name such as "Eiffel Tower."
  6. Even cooler, if you click on street view (if it is available) you can pretend that you are walking in your country or state. The street view for Paris actually allows you to walk along the Seine and look at the Eiffel Tower.
  7. After exploring your country or state's interactive google map, now it is time to find a suitable map that shows your country or state's capital. Here is a website with a plethora of maps to choose from and here is the CIA factbook which has excellent maps of each country. 5th grade can use this websiteor search in net Trekker for good maps.
  8. Find the map that you like, right click on it and select "cop."
  9. Go to your PP and right click where you want the map to appear and select"paste."
  10. Resize and move the map how you choose.
  11. You may wish to repeat steps 7-10 for multiple maps (continent, state).
  12. Copy the website that you used and paste it onto one of the bullets in your bibliography.
  13. Ok, lookin' good so far. Now we are going to hyperlink our map to a website. Right click on your map in your PP and select "hyperlink."
  14. Where it says address, type "http://maps.google.com/maps"
  15. Click "Ok." You have now created a hyperlink to google maps. When you show your slide show, you can click on the map and type your country's name and show your audience the interactive google map that you are familiar with.
  16. List your country or state's capital and continent and you are done for today. Click "save."
